January 25, 2015.
An unfortunate event shocked the country.
44 police officers from the PNP-SAF were found dead after a long fight with the MILF.
Different sources cited various reasons for the said encounter that caused death of several.
January 30, 2015.
It was declared as National Day of Mourning in the country in honor of the fallen heroes.
The bodies were brought to Manila and were given military honors upon arrival in Villamor Airbase. The highest officials were present in the said event except for the president, which became a very hot issue.
All flags were half-mast and a necrological service was offered where the president awarded those heroes the medal of valor.
Families continue to seek justice for their loved ones.
MY OPINION:
#NasaanAngPangulo had been a trending topic in the social media. The president's absence on the arrival of the bodies had gained so much attention after finding out that he attended an activity which was said to be in schedule. The company would have understood if the president needed to prioritize the heroes who helped in protecting the country. But to say that the arrival was not on the schedule was very disappointing because he should make time for urgent matters like this. He's about to end his term. Shouldn't he be leaving a good impression so he won't be among the presidents that left a not-so-good mark to the people?
